The journey so far
After four group-stage games, the Super Eagles have only managed to collect three points, with three draws and one defeat to Benin Republic. This has put Nigeria in a precarious situation in their qualifying bid.
However, qualifying is not implausible, as four points separate the Super Eagles from Group C leaders Rwanda. Nigeria play the Amavubi next month, a major chance to cut the deficit and get back on track for qualifying.

What Okpara said
Okpara, who registered 29 caps for the national team during his playing days, believes the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2026 World Cup despite their poor start, citing the sheer quality of the team compared to their opponents.
“1v1 Nigeria has better players than the teams in our World Cup group, and I’m confident we will qualify for the tournament next year,” Okpara told Brila.
The Malian is aware of the task at hand and the pressure to deliver. Still, he promised Nigerians to take the Super Eagles to the promised land.
