The partnership between KCCA FC and sponsors Chint Electric is fast yielding lasting dividends as the promise for night football is finally coming to life.

MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, is set to host its first match under floodlights, that is, KCCA FC against Maroons in the April 1st, 2023 StarTimes Uganda Premier League, this season.

"Yes, we are positive the game against Maroons will be played under the floodlights," KCCA CEO Anisha Muhoozi confirmed to Pulse Sports.

"At the moment, we are doing the necessary tests and trying to seek permission to have the match played (at night). But the plan is to start with that game," she reiterated.

The Kasasiro Boys will have followed St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, who have hosted two CAF Champions League group stage matches against Simba SC and Raja Casablanca under the lights.

The latest development is a significant boost in the call towards attracting crowds back to stadia, as night football doesn't coincide with most supporters' daily work.

Maroons beat KCCA 1-0 in the first round at the Luzira Prisons Grounds, but the latter will be keen on mastering revenge with certainly a much bigger crowd than in the past.

The Morley Byekwaso coach occupy the apex of the 15-team UPL log with 35 points, ten ahead of the sixth-placed Warders.
