Shakiru Lawal scored the first-ever goal at the National Stadium, Abuja in 2003.

Stormers Sports Club, based in Ogun, Nigeria, has appointed and unveiled former Stationery Stores manager Shakiru Lawal as their new head coach.

Shakiru Lawal scored the first goal at the National Stadium in Abuja; he found the back of the net five minutes into the game against the Sunshine Stars on April 8th, 2003.

He was a midfielder with many attributes during his playing career, including a great ball user, an active defender, a brilliant ball distributor, and a keen eye for goals.

Shakiru Lawal also played for Gateway United FC, where he later worked as a coach, and the Gabros football club in addition to Shooting Stars and the disbanded Julius Berger FC.
