Joao Cancelo speaks on Bayern's sacking of Julian Nagelsmann and the subsequent hiring of Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel has reportedly been hired as the new Bayern Munich manager, and Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo all but confirmed it, saying he had just found out.

Per multiple reports, Bayern Munich fired Julian Nagelsmann, and Thomas Tuchel was given the job as his replacement. Cancelo, who faced Tuchel's Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, had something to say about his would-be new boss and the exiting one.

Cancelo on Nagelsmann

Cancelo was questioned on the new developments at Bayern after Portugal's 4-0 thumping of Liechtenstein, and the Manchester City loanee had a message for his new boss and the old one.

For Nagelsmann, Cancelo was full of thanks to the German tactician, who he said wanted him at Bayern Munich.

Cancelo joined the Bavarians on loan in the January transfer window after his game time at Manchester City was reduced, and when asked about Nagelsmann's dismissal, the fullback, who does not expect to meet the manager when he returns from the international break, sent a message of thanks.

Cancelo on Tuchel

The Portuguese will be no stranger to his incoming boss, as Thomas Tuchel was Chelsea's manager in the Premier League—where Cancelo outfitted for Manchester City—for 99 games.

Other than their regular encounters in the league, Manchester City and Chelsea played an all-English Champions League final in the 2020/21 season, in which Chelsea and Tuchel were victorious and Joao Cancelo's Manchester City were the vanquished.

Cancelo reminisced on the loss but hoped that Tuchel—who is a two-time finalist of the competition and has won it once—will help him win his first Champions League title.

Bayern Munich will face Cancelo's parent club, Manchester City, in the Champions League quarter-finals, and could face Tuchel's former club Chelsea or Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
