The AFCON 2023 qualifiers resume this weekend with the third round of games. Here are the best betting tips from Thursday’s fixtures.

The AFCON 2023 qualifiers continue this week as teams play their third round of games. The tournament will be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024 with a total of 24 teams.

The top two teams from the 12 qualifying groups will make it into the tournament to join the hosts, Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast will participate in the qualifiers despite being guaranteed a spot as hosts, which means the best-ranked teams in their qualifying group apart from Ivory Coast will qualify for the tournament. Results from games involving Ivory Coast will count in determining the qualification of the other teams in their group.

Ghana v Angola

Thursday, March 23, 17:00 (GMT+1)

Betting tip: Ghana to win

Odds: 1.50 on Bet9ja

Ghana have won just one of their last four games but are unbeaten in their last six home games, winning their last five. Angola are poor away from home, last winning on the road in 2019, when they defeated Botswana 1-0.

Ghana are expected to continue their brilliant home run against Angola.

Zambia v Lesotho

Thursday, March 23, 17:00 (GMT+1)

Betting tip: Zambia to win

Odds: 1.27 on Bet9ja

Zambia are a stronger team than Lesotho, with the hosts ranked 59 places above Lesotho in the current FIFA rankings. Zambia have Leicester City’s Patson Daka in their attack, and his quality will be too much to handle for Lesotho.

The visitors, on the other hand, do not have quality in attack and have an inexperienced squad. Zambia should secure three points in this one.

Congo v South Sudan

Thursday, March 23, 17:00 (GMT+1)

Betting tip: Congo to win

Odds: 1.36 on Bet9ja

This will be the first ever clash between these nations as they look to make it to the AFCON. South Sudan are one of four sides to have lost both of their qualifying matches so far and are significantly weaker than their hosts. Congo have won two and lost one of their last three home games and are expected to bag a win against South Sudan.

Gabon v Sudan

Thursday, March 23, 20:00 (GMT+1)

Betting tip: Gabon to win

Odds: 1.48 on Bet9ja

Gabon might have lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to retirement last year, but they still have some good attacking options in Denis Bouanga, Aaron Boupendza, and Jim Allevinah.

Sudan also have a decent attack, but they are weak defensively, with eight goals conceded in their last three international games a testament to that.

Gabon will exploit this weakness with support from their home fans and are expected to come out on top.
