Bayer Leverkusen teenager Florian Wirtz was amazed by Barcelona links he had never heard about
Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz has responded to transfer rumours linking him to LaLiga giants Barcelona.

The prodigious midfielder is one of the top talents in the Bundesliga and has been widely touted as Germany’s next great player.
Despite suffering an ACL injury that kept him out from the end of the 2021/22 season until after the 2022 World Cup, Wirtz is still seen as one of the best-emerging players in the Bundesliga and has unsurprisingly attracted interest from some of Europe’s top teams including Barcelona.
There have been rumours that Barcelona already have contact with the teenage sensation ahead of a big-money move to Catalonia in the summer, but Wirtz claims he has no idea where or indeed how the rumours started.
Wirtz amazed by Barcelona links he had never heard about
Wirtz is currently with the German national team ahead of their international friendlies against Peru and Belgium, and he took some time to clear up the rumours linking him to Barcelona.
Speaking at a press conference, Wirtz said that he was very surprised by the rumours and that there was no truth to them.
He said, “I haven’t heard anything from my father [also his agent] about Barcelona.
“I just read that and was amazed. I want to end the season well and achieve something with Leverkusen. I don’t look into the future.”
Wirtz has been in fine form since his return from injury and has directly contributed to eight goals in 13 matches since his return, including four goal contributions in four UEFA Europa LEague knockout games.
