Lewandowski says Barcelona need to score more goals ahead of El Clasico

Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski has charged his team to be more proficient in front of goal ahead of their LaLiga El Clasico clash with Real Madrid

Lewandowski wants Barcelona to score more goals

The Polish forward joined Barcelona last summer from Bayern Munich and has scored 15 league goals to help Barcelona sit atop LaLiga, but still feels that there are improvements the team can make.

Lewandowski has urged his Barcelona teammates to score more goals and finish matches off matches like his old team Bayern Munich used to do.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clasico against Real Madrid, Lewandowski told ESPN, “I always tell Gavi and Pedri, ‘Scoring one is never enough, ok? Think that we can score another one. If we score two goals, then why cannot we score three?”

Barcelona sacrificing attacking output for defensive solidity

Barcelona have relied heavily on their defence and midfield control of matches this season, and have conceded only eight goals in 25 matches while keeping 19 clean sheets.

Their attack has been somewhat stunted in response and they have scored 47 goals in the league, which is three less than Real Madrid, and only five more than Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona have also won nine LaLiga matches by a 1-0 scoreline, which is already more than they managed in any complete LaLiga season in their history, making Lewandowski’s observation very apt.
