Yemisi Samuel's hattrick helped Edo Queens whitewash Fortress Ladies 8-0.

The defending champions of the Edo women's Federation Cup, the Edo Queens, have retained their title after they whitewashed Fortress Ladies.

Edo Queens retained the prestigious Cup after blasting out Fortress Ladies 8-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Edo Queens have now been crowned Edo champions with the 2023 FA Cup glory from inception to date.

The Nigeria women's Football League (NWFL) side against their Amateur opponent Fortress Women, who was unable to pose any threat to the defending champions, lived up to the anticipation.

Bashiru Kafayat opened the scoring for Edo Queens in the 13th minute of play. Yemisi Samuel scored a hattrick in the 17th, 22nd, and 40th minutes before Kafayat Bashiru got a brace to make it 5-0 before halftime.

As the second half resumed, Alice Ogebe increased the tally for Edo Queens in the 47th minute. Sulehat Aberdeen later scored twice in the 68th, and 77th minutes to complete the routes.

The Nigerian Women Football League NWFL Group B leaders Edo Queens and Fortress Ladies will be representing Edo state at the National level of the Federation cup.

Edo Queens are getting ready for Week 10 of the NWFL tie against Confluence Queens FC of Lakoja who will be hosting the Red- hot Benin ladies next week Wednesday, the 22nd of March 2023 at the Confidence Stadium Lokoja, Kogi State.
