The 2023 Federation Cup is expected to begin in April, with the final scheduled for May.

Sunshine Stars have emerged as the champions of the Ondo FA Cup after defeating Adamimogo in Wednesday's state cup final.

Irrespective of Wednesday's results, both Sunshine Stars and Adamimogo will represent the state in the 2023 edition of Nigeria's Federation Cup.

After a fiercely fought goalless first half, the Akure Gunners got their first spark of the game from Jide Jimoh who only came on as a second-half substitute.

A few minutes later, Jimoh extended the lead, putting Sunshine Stars in pole position to defend the state championship they won last year.

The score was then increased to three in the 86th minute thanks to Chukwude Stephen before Jimoh — who was named the game's man of the match — got his hat trick from the penalty spot in the dying minutes.

72 teams to play in 2023 competition

72 clubs from 36 states and the FCT would compete in the 2023 tournament - participants being winners and runners-up of their respective state cups.
