Pep Guardiola tells a story about his earlier days at Manchester City, involving actress Julia Roberts.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, basking in the euphoria of his team's 7-0 victory over Leipzig, tells a story about movie star and 2001 Academic Award winner for Best Actress Julia Roberts.

The pretty woman and Notting Hill star was a source of disappointment for Pep, who revealed a story from his earlier days at City.

What Pep said about Julia Roberts

Following Manchester City's demolition of Leipzig, Pep was in high spirits, and he let journalists in on a disappointment he has carried since his earlier days at City.

He revealed that he had three idols, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Julia Roberts.

The actress shares an agency with former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, and with her kids reported to be avid football fans, she was a guest at Old Trafford in November 2016 to watch Man United play West Ham.

Guardiola had been a manager at Manchester City at the time, and he, in what could have been his usual sarcastic acts in pressers, expressed displeasure at the star's choice of Manchester club to visit.

He was baffled, as he believed the Red Devils were not successful at the time, as it was some years after the Fergie era, and he thought Manchester City were the better club in the city at the time.

He then went on to say that even if he won the Champions League, he would still be disappointed that his idol did not come to watch his team, opting for their rivals.

"I have three idols in my life," he said. "Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Julia Roberts,” Pep said, per the BBC.

"Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester, not in the period of Alex Ferguson when they were winning title after title, in the last four or five years when we were better than them. But she didn't come to see us. She went to visit Man United.

"Even if I win the Champions League, it will not [ease] the disappointment of Julia Roberts going to United. My idol."

As we reported in detail here, Pep said in a previous press conference that his time at City will be judged by success in the Champions League.
