A lawyer representing the player, Fanny Colin, stated that her client did not do anything wrong and that the accusations are false.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi through his legal advisors has denied allegations of rape made against him.

A lawyer representing the player, Fanny Colin, stated that her client did not do anything wrong and that the accusations are false.

"The accusations are false. He is calm and is at the disposal of justice," Colin told Le Parisien in a statement on Tuesday.

Colin's remarks represent the first time a member of Hakimi's entourage has spoken about the allegations.

French prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into the rape allegation against the 24-year-old defender.

A police report was filed against Hakimi on Sunday, February 26, for an incident that is alleged to have happened at his home in the Boulogne area of Paris on Saturday, February 25.

And while the woman who filed the complaint decided against pressing charges, Prosecutors felt it is viable to look further into the claims.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we cannot comment further at this time," a spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office in Nanterre, the Parisian suburb where the investigation is taking place, said.

Despite the investigation, Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed that Hakimi remains available for selection, and the club has voiced its support for the player.

"The club supports the player, who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts the justice system," PSG said in a statement.

"Paris St-Germain is an institution that promotes respect on and off the pitch," a statement added.

Hakimi, who was born in Spain but represents Morocco's national team, did not feature in PSG's recent victory over Marseille because of a thigh injury.

However, the defender has been a regular starter for PSG this season, making 29 appearances and scoring four goals in all competitions.

Hakimi was present at the Best Fifa Football Awards ceremony held in Paris on Monday evening, where he was named in the FIFPro men's world team of the year.

The 24-year-old stood on stage to collect the award alongside other winners including his PSG team-mates Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
