2023 will be a busy year for Nigerian football, particularly the male national teams.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has challenged the country's senior men's national team, the Super Eagles, as well as their under-23 counterparts, the Olympics Eagles, to fly Nigeria's flag high when they engage in their respective qualifying matches for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Super Eagles will get back to attempting to qualify for Africa's premier football competition in March when they play Guinea Bissau in a doubleheader.

The National U-23 men's team, will on their own part, play Guinea in two matches in March in a bid to make it to the U-23 AFCON in June - where the actual qualifications for the Olympics would be decided.

To the Super Eagles, ahead of their final qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe, the NFF board projected that six points will make the team unassailable in its group contest for a spot at the AFCON finals.
