From selling Fufu to England; the story of Lawal Waris as he wins Academic, football scholarship in England.

Lawal Waris, an Ablaze Football Academy talent, has won a scholarship to Brooks House College in the United Kingdom through the Ablaze Slum to the World Project to study and continue his football journey.

Waris was the former captain of the academy's U-15 squad before growing into the U-17 squad.

'Omo Iya Oni Fufu' as he is fondly called, was part of Team Nigeria that won the Bayern World Cup Final in Germany for the first time.

Wariz made the team of the tournament after giving a brilliant display and also having a catching performance in the game against the Bayern U15 category.

His brilliant display at the Bayern World Cup Final in Germany gave him the opportunity to win a scholarship through the VOE Foundation.

He was picked up at a young age by the academy and was known for hawking and helping his mother make fufu as a means to survive after the passing of his father.

He rose through the ranks to captain the Blazers' U-15 team before being promoted to the U-17 level; the young midfielder has had 115 goals and 173 assists since joining the academy.

Lawal Waris joins the likes of Yusuf Ibrahim, Olaleke Jeremiah, Ajani Waheed in the list of the Ablaze kids that are making advancement through the project.
