Nigeria will play Mexico, Colombia and Costa Rica as part of preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has named the 23 players he intends to use for next month’s Revelations Cup tournament set to take place in Mexico.

The Revelations Cup is a four-nation tournament hosted by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), and would for the Super Falcons, serve as part of the team's preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand later in the year.

The competition which holds in Leon, in the State of Guanajuato, will feature Mexico, Nigeria, Costa Rica and Colombia playing matches in a round-robin format between February 15 to February 21.

Waldrum reacts to Super Falcons' invitation

After Nigeria's participation was announced on Wednesday, the American expressed his delight that the Super Falcons were being given an opportunity to prepare for this year’s Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons will be one of 32 teams to participate at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup later in the year

“We are very excited for the invitation to the @RevCupMexico. As an American, I know Mexico and Costa Rica very well, and Colombia is also a big rival. It is an honour to play these matches.

“The way football is played around the world gives our players the opportunity to meet another style of football.

“Women’s football must continue to grow; we need to have more of these tournaments.

“The Revelations Cup Mexico is an opportunity to watch other team’s styles. We can learn from Concacaf and South American teams.

Waldrum’s Falcons are in Group B of the World Cup alongside co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and debutants, the Republic of Ireland.

Costa Rica and Colombia are also part of the 32 teams slated to feature at this year's expanded FIFA Women's World Cup.
