The NCF has carried out the ICC's mission to yearly welcome 250,000 new athletes into the sports through its Accelerated Growth Program.

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Board has approved a quarterly subvention money for the growth of the sport in all 36 of the Federation's states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

One of the five new Key Strategic Pillars of growth proposed by the NCF Board upon their inauguration in October 2021 is the growth of grassroots cricket.

The NCF has carried out the ICC's mission to yearly welcome 250,000 new athletes each year through its Accelerated Growth Program.

One of the motions made by the Board at the annual general meeting in February 2022 was to approve the subvention fund. The subvention payments are intended to supplement the Federation's efforts in order to meet and maybe exceed the target mark for new recruits.

The budget of Three Million (3,000,000) Naira has been approved for this program's execution, with Five Hundred Thousand (N500,000) Naira allotted to each geopolitical zone, which would be divided equally between two states in each zone.

The program will begin with the two states in a region with the least amount of cricket development, and in the following disbursement round, move on to the other states with more developed cricket infrastructure. A minimum of 20,000 new entrants are anticipated overall from the subvention monies, with 10,000 projected to come from each of Nigeria's two regions.

According to the approval of the Board the states that will benefit in this phase include; North Central: (Kogi & Niger), North East: (Borno & Bauchi), North West: (Sokoto & Jigawa), South East: (Abia & Enugu), South-South: (Cross Rivers & Bayelsa) and South West: (Osun & Ekiti).

States that have received the subsidies are expected to produce at least 2000 participants each state, with 12 states chosen from each zone adding up to a total of 24,000 participants.

The program will be carried out by the Federation's technical personnel, and it will be overseen by the Federation's two national development managers, six regional development officers, and field officers that have been sent to different states.

The NCF Data Officer will oversee the program in the several states to ensure compliance from the Secretariat through the Geographic Information System (GIS), which enables events to be monitored by exact location and in real time. The foundation for its future review will be the execution's success.

A crucial component of grassroots growth continues to be the NCF's goal on bringing 250,000 new participants into the sport annually through the Accelerated Growth program. The framework that is now in place, the shared ratio between the North and South regions, and the development staff that has been hired for this job will all remain in place.
