New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is facing allegations of rape, as well as sexual, physical, emotional, and financial abuse during a long-term relationship, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Williamson entered the NBA in 2019 as the first overall pick by the New Orleans Pelicans after a stellar college career at Duke.
Due to his exceptional physical attributes and basketball talent, many considered him LeBron James' heir apparent, but things haven't unfolded as expected.

Williamson accused
One of the most serious accusations alleges Williamson repeatedly made death threats to his girlfriend between 2020 and 2023, as reported by Sportal.
According to US media reports, the woman who filed the lawsuit is using the pseudonym Jane Doe and claims to have been in a relationship with Williamson since his freshman year at Duke University, specifically between 2018 and 2023.
The 12-page civil lawsuit, accessed by ESPN, alleges that the NBA star exhibited a "consistent pattern of abusive, controlling, and threatening behaviour" during that period.
The lawsuit claims the incidents occurred in several states, including Louisiana and California.

The Pelicans have yet to release an official statement. Team spokespeople have stated they will not comment on the case and will leave it to Williamson's legal team, who are reportedly preparing an official statement.
Other accusations claim Williamson constantly controlled her movements, monitored who she saw, incessantly called and followed her after work, or sent friends to follow her.
He also allegedly entered her apartment multiple times without her permission and searched through her belongings.
His NBA career has been significantly hampered by injuries, limiting him to just 30 games last season, averaging 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.
