Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly unhappy with the team's decision to waive Damian Lillard.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ abrupt decision to waive Damian Lillard and let Brook Lopez walk in free agency has upset Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to Chris Haynes, “The Greek Freak” is frustrated with the handling of the situation, which could create issues for Milwaukee if tensions continue.
“Sources have relayed to me that Giannis Antetokounmpo is not pleased with the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to buy out Damian Lillard for the remainder of his contract,” the NBA insider said on NBA TV.
“He just didn’t like how it was handled. This whole offseason, since the season ended, he’s been weighing his options and figuring out what he’s gonna do, try to navigate the situation.
”In a shocking move, the Bucks waived Lillard, stretching his remaining $113 million contract over five years. Lillard’s two seasons in Milwaukee disappointed, with the team exiting in the first round of the playoffs both years.
Additionally, the nine-time All-Star suffered a torn Achilles in Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers, an injury likely to sideline him for most, if not all, of next season.
