LeBron James had a big night but could not save the Lakers from defeat to the Clippers.
The Lakers suffered a 115-133 loss to the Clippers in a Los Angeles derby played in the early hours of Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
The Clippers started off hot led by Kawhi Leonard to take a seven-point lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter was a 16-point blowout also for the Clippers as they took a 23-point lead to the halftime break.
The Lakers bounced back to take the third quarter and reduce the deficit to 16.
In a frantic fourth quarter, the Clippers did just enough to hold and record their third straight victory.

LeBron James makes NBA history
Since Lakers superstar, LeBron James turned 38 in December he has been on an amazing scoring streak.
Chasing the NBA's all-time scoring record held by Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James continues to pour in the points.
Against the Clippers, James recorded 46 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and contributed seven assists, two steals, and one block.
He made 16 of his 29 shots which includes nine of 14 from three-point range and all five free throws.
Now in his 20th season, James now has three 45-point games at age 38 which ties the great Michael Jordan for the most all-time.
He also set a career-high with his nine three-point makes against the Clippers.
James also becomes the first NBA player to ever score 40 points against all 30 NBA teams and has the longest active streak of 20-point games this season.
The loss means the Lakers now are 13th in a loaded Western Conference and face a huge challenge to make it to the playoffs.
James returns to action on the second night of a back-to-back when the Lakers take on the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
