Anavia Battle stormed to victory in the women's 200m event ahead of Shericka Jackson at the Xiamen Diamond League.

In an unexpected turnout at the Xiamen Diamond League, Anavia Battle dominated the women's 200m event over Shericka Jackson in a blistering Meeting Record of 22.41s.

The American speedster ran a perfect curve to take the lead in the home straight and held on, pulling away from Jackson and the rest of the field to win her second sprint race of the season, having clocked a blistering world-leading time of 10.98s at the Florida Relays two weeks ago.

Her impressive run in Xiamen proves she's in the best shape of her life and will be an interesting watch for the rest of the season and ahead of making the American team to the World Championships in Tokyo this summer.

Meanwhile, Jackson settled for second in a Season's Best (SB) time of 22.79s, while Jenna Prandini was third in 22.97s.

The Jamaican sprint queen who's returning from an injury-plagued 2024 season and is yet to hit her best form, will aim to build on this performance as the season progresses with the goal of defending her world title in Tokyo.

The women's 200m is proving to be an interesting event to have eyes on this season, with Gabby Thomas, Favour Ofili, and Julien Alfred still in the mix to produce spectacular highlights for fans' delight.

Notwithstanding, Jackson will fight hard to regain her spot at the top of the chain. After all, she's the world's fastest woman alive in the event.
