American track queen Sha'Carri Richardson has been nominated alongside an elite list of female athletes for the BET Sportswoman of the Year Award.
The reigning world 100m champion is the only track star on the nominee list, which also includes basketball stars Angel Reese, Juju Watkins, and A'Ja Wilson, as well as Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles and tennis star Coco Gauff. The list is completed by Flaujae Johnson, Clarissa Shields, and Dawn Staley.
Richardson had an impressive 2024 track season highlighted by winning Paris Olympics 100m silver medal, anchoring Team USA to 4x100m gold, and ending the year with the world's fastest time of 10.71s.
This season, she officially made her debut last weekend at the Seiko Grand Prix in Tokyo, where she finished fourth in the 100m race, though under some alleged inconvenience having ran with a calf compressor.
