Two-time Olympian Jerome Blake powered to an impressive personal best to become the fastest Canadian this year.

Canadian sprint star Jerome Blake is one to keep an eye on this season, following an impressive performance at the International Anhalt Meeting in Germany.

The 29-year-old blazed to the 100m win in a blistering Personal Best (PB) and Meeting Record (MR) of 9.97s (1.4) - his first time under the sub-10s mark.

Blake held off a fast-finishing Tsebo Matsoso, who also dropped a PB of 10.03s, while Nigeria's star sprinter Favour Ashe was third in a Season's Best (SB) of 10.08s.

Blake, a two-time Olympian, was part of the Canadian 4x100m relay team that won gold at the Paris Olympic Games last summer. With his time, he is currently the fastest sprinter from his country this season.

Meanwhile, Ashe, a standout sprinter in the US collegiate system before turning professional this year, is a consistent sub-10s runner, and his performance shows he's gradually getting back into form nicely ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo this summer.
