Kanyinsola Ajayi and Chioma Nwachukwu shone in their respective college meets on Friday.
Paris Olympian Kanyinsola Ajayi continued with his unbeaten start to the 2025 season, powering to a new Personal Best (PB) of 6.51s to win the college 60m event at the Tiger Paw Invitational.
His victory inspired a Nigerian and Auburn University 1-2 finish, as teammate Israel Okon missed breaking the world U20 record by just 0.01s after finishing second in a blistering PB of 6.52s.
Ajayi's brilliant time propelled him as the fastest in the NCAA this year, the joint school record holder alongside his senior compatriot Favour Ashe, and it's the fourth-fastest in Nigerian history behind Deji Aliu (6.47s), Olusoji Fasuba (6.48s), and Tosin Ogunode (6.50s).

The 20-year-old now stands as favourite to win the 60m title at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, and perhaps break the long-standing Nigerian record.
Meanwhile, University of Iowa freshman Chioma Nwachukwu proved once again why she's one to keep an eye on after taking almost a full second off her PB, clocking 52.25s to win her 400m heat at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
She stunned LSU's Ella Onojuvwevwo for the win and her time moved her to ninth on the Nigerian all-time list. She was the third fastest overall across 15 heats.
