LSU's Tima Godbless ran a record-breaking 60m race to move up joint fourth on the Nigerian 60m all-time list.
Highly rated as Blessing Okagbare's successor in Nigerian women's sprints, Tima Godbless lived up to the hype again after clocking the fourth-fastest 60m time in the country's history.
The Louisiana State University's (LSU) sophomore sprint sensation blazed to a blistering 7.08s to convincingly win her 60m semifinal race at the Arkansas Invitational on Friday night, thus lowering her Personal Best (PB) of 7.13s clocked earlier in the heats.
She defeated a stacked field as NCAA sprint sensation Indya Mayberry came second in 7.23s, and Jamaica's rising star Tina Clayton was seventh in 7.41s.
With her brilliant time, she moved to No.4 on the Nigerian all-time list, No.3 in LSU history, No.10 in NCAA history, third-fastest in the world this year, and the fastest in the college circuit in 2025.
Following her exceptional performance, Godbless has shown she's ready to match the hype as Nigeria's new Okagabre, who is regarded as undeniably the greatest Nigerian sprinter in history.
Consequently, the 21-year-old now stands as favourite alongside her compatriot Success Umukoro (Texas Tech University) to challenge for the 60m title at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Godbless will be gunning to lower her best before the end of the indoor season, and who knows may see her break Christy Opara-Thompson's long-standing Nigerian Record of 7.02s set back in 1997.
